![]() ![]() Once you’re ready, you can make an appointment at your local MVD office for your driving test. You’ll need to have your learners permit for a minimum of 6 months and complete the above training requirements before you can test for your Arizona drivers license. Arizona requires those who opt for alternate instruction to log 30 hours of supervised behind-the-wheel training. Your other option is have your parent or legal guardian provide you with driving instruction. Approved Drivers Ed courses will offer 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. If you choose the latter, check to make sure that it’s approved by the Arizona MVD. Your high school may offer these, or you can choose a private driving school. The first is to take a state-approved drivers ed course. ![]() To be eligible to test for your Arizona drivers license, you first need to get some behind-the-wheel training. You may also not drive with more than 1 passenger under the age of 18, unless they are your siblings and your parent or guardian is with you (and in the front passenger seat). The difference between the two? With your Class G license, you may not drive between midnight and 5:00 AM unless your parent or guardian is with you (and in the front passenger seat). When you turn 18, you’ll be bumped up to the full Class D license. For teens, this means that if you’re at least 16, but less than 18, you can apply for the Arizona Graduated (Class G) license. Arizona has what’s known as a Graduated Drivers License process. Once you’ve gotten your Arizona learners permit, you can begin the process of getting your Arizona drivers license.
